For people who already have mindfulness meditation experience.
Ongoing secular opportunities (see below) to gather with others in Sheffield and meditate together. A chance to enrich or rekindle your practice. Facilitated by an experienced mindfulness teacher.
There will be about one mindfulness continuation activity per quarter. Events listed below in calendar-order. This page will be updated on an ongoing basis, so keep your eyes peeled here for any future sessions.
Sitting Group – next sitting group is 6 June 2018
Suitable for anyone with a pre-existing mindfulness meditation practice. A chance to maintain and deepen your practice or to rekindle it if you have fallen away from it. This is a secular sitting group, which provides the chance to meditate with other local meditators, led by a specialist in mindfulness.
The format will be roughly as follows…
- An initial meditation practice
- A short talk on a theme or teaching point related to mindfulness, meditation or living mindfully. This will be followed by the opportunity for the group to join in discussion on this theme.
- An extended period of meditations, thus allowing you to cultivate presence for a longer period perhaps than your home practice. This extended period of meditations may be interspersed with poems or stories or quotes that relate to mindfulness.
Please note – this sitting group is not suitable for beginners. If you are a beginner and would like to learn mindfulness meditation, Tall Spaghetti’s MBSR course is exactly for this purpose.
7pm to 9pm
If you have your own meditation equipment (zafus, stools etc) that you would like to use, then please bring them along. It is of course fine to meditate sitting on a chair. It is best to wear comfortable clothing for meditation and bring anything else that would help you to be comfortable, eg warm socks, a cushion. You will not need yoga mats, unless specifically stated here.
