Some details about the weekend….
A beautiful retreat venue
It is in a stunning hill-top setting overlooking the Yorkshire countryside, near Huddersfield (as seen in the image above). It is possible to go on a lovely countryside walk from the retreat centre.
The retreat schedule
There will be a full schedule. This includes:
- varied guided meditations
- unguided meditation sessions
- mindful movement
- short talks that support practice
- short talks that explore the retreat theme
- free time for walking, reflecting etc
Retreatants are asked to observe the silence. Retreat leaders will be speaking at times throughout the weekend in order to give instructions. Meals and breaks are also in silence. We will give you guidance on this. We will also give you guidance on how to be in silence during your free time.
When you arrive, before the silence begins, you will have time to settle into your rooms, meet fellow retreatants, share a meal together and attend a welcome meeting (with plenty of opportunity for questions). Then the silence will begin. The silence is broken in a facilitated session towards the end of the retreat. Therefore there is another chance to talk to fellow retreatants and to your retreat leaders at the end of the weekend and during the final lunch together.
The retreat theme
In each retreat we lightly explore a particular theme which is pertinent to mindfulness. The theme for the Spring 2018 retreat is ‘Appreciation’.
Delicious vegetarian food
The weekend is fully catered. You will be provided with fabulous healthy, locally-sourced, vegetarian meals.
Your retreat leaders
This retreat is led by Rachael Garside (Tall Spaghetti) and Sally Edward (kindmind). We both have many years of personal mindfulness practice and are passionate about the subject.
We are both registered as teachers of mindfulness on the listing of The UK Network of Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations – this includes that we have demonstrated (through an assessment process) that we adhere to the UK Good Practice Guidelines for mindfulness teachers.
Accommodation is on site in shared , single-gender apartments of up to 5 people. The apartments are very attractive and each has its own bathroom and kitchen facilities. Beds include regular beds, sofa beds, pull-out beds and futons. We will allocate you with your apartment and bed in advance.
The price includes 3 delicious meals a day, your accommodation and the guided retreat schedule.
We would be delighted if you could join us on this nourishing weekend in such a fabulous setting!
