How do you achieve presence and impact amongst colleagues and stakeholders, without shouting to be heard? Tall Spaghetti executive coaching supported this client in a journey of self-discovery, helping him realise his potential, hone his professional style and achieve almost effortless results across departments, countries and continents.
This client* had just been promoted to a new role, in a new country, looking after a highly profitable £1 billion business. He needed to stand out and to make an impression wherever he went. This in turn would give him greater visibility with stakeholders, enable him to secure more senior roles in future and most importantly, maximise his effectiveness within his current role.

The coaching theme
At the outset of the coaching period, the client rated his presence and gravitas at about 2-3/10. This was hardly surprising, as despite his natural affability, capability and important position within a successful global business, he didn’t fully appreciate how much he had to offer. He had difficulty trusting his own feelings and opinions enough to share them with others; and often held himself back when trying to define a goal or express ideas.
He also lacked confidence in identifying successes during the course of a project, preferring to wait until completion before daring to promote any achievements.
What we did
Tall Spaghetti executive coaching is very much tailored to the individual; and in this client’s case, I immediately picked up on an interest in the more philosophical side of personal development and the workings of the mind. There was a desire to be inspired in this way.
My client’s open-minded attitude enabled me to take our work together down some interesting paths. Over a course of six sessions, we drew on visualisation, neuro-linguistic programming techniques and philosophical ideas to help the client build self-awareness, reaffirm his strengths and think about professional situations in a completely new light.
To quote the client himself, “the impact of the coaching has been immediate and significant”. To put it simply, something in him just ‘clicked’. He now oozes a sort of calm presence, and is more assured, positive and assertive in his style – and this is producing seemingly effortless results in a number of areas. Seniors have remarked on his greater sense of authority, while his team have been inspired by his fresh approach to challenges. Customer satisfaction scores have markedly improved, with many commenting that their relationship with the firm is “better than it’s ever been since that new man arrived 6 months ago”. Coaching has also given this client a much more proactive approach to networking, and he finds himself comfortably seeking out opportunities which he would have once avoided. He makes an impression in a way that is in line with his natural style and strengths, so it feels very easy to the client, and this authenticity comes across powerfully to others.
At the end of the executive coaching he remarked, “My coaching experience with Rachael has been educational, inspiring, insightful and fun – a wonderful experience that has truly moved my ability to perform to a new level, and I look back on it with joy.”
Twelve months on…. he commented “Rachael helped me develop faster and further beyond that which I could have achieved on my own. She had an amazing ability to help me think differently and has helped me implement new behaviour as a ‘normal’ way of work.”
